Mew's Closet originated when our new Cornish Rex arrived at our home. We have raised Himalayans and Persians for so long, the idea of a kitty getting cold wasn't one that occured very often. When Mew came to the house, he would constantly dig a hole for himself underneath blankets and into piles of pillows. And if he was not under a blanket he was usually shivering on the bed.
My mother has always been a talented knitter and without small children to knit sweaters for all the time, her needles had gone to rest. While at a show in Hartford, CT, Mew was shivering and no matter what we tried he was still cold, so when we got home that night, mom started knitting. Mew has an entire wardrobe of sweaters that he wears now.
We call them "calming" sweaters because whenever he puts one on, he seems to relax and slow down.
